Welcome to HangSpot. By downloading, installing, or using the HangSpot mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility and Safety
You must be at least 21 years of age to create an account on HangSpot. By registering and using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 21 years old.
- You can form a binding contract with HangSpot.
- You have never been convicted of a felony or a sex crime.
- You will comply with all local, state, national, and international laws while using our platform.
2. Nature of the Service (Ephemerality & Same-Day Intent)
HangSpot is a same-day hyper-local social utility. To encourage spontaneous, safe, and face-to-face meetups, you acknowledge and agree that:
- The 4:00 AM Wipe: All location presence metrics and pending invitations are automatically expired and purged from our servers daily at 4:00 AM local time. This is an intentional feature of the Service.
- No In-App Chat: The Service does not provide an in-app messaging terminal. Instead, HangSpot facilitates matching, upon which your chosen external social media handles (e.g., Instagram, Snapchat) are shared with your mutual match to coordinate meetups directly.
3. User Conduct and Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users. You agree to use the Service in a responsible, respectful, and safe manner. You will not:
- Harass, stalk, intimidate, or threaten any other user on or off the platform.
- Falsify location coordinates or spoof your location using unauthorized third-party software.
- Post content that is graphic, obscene, hateful, or violates another person's rights.
- Create multiple fake accounts or use bots to scrape or harvest data from the Service.
4. Location Fuzzing and Accuracy Disclaimers
To preserve user privacy, HangSpot implements Location Fuzzing, which snaps and rounds coordinates to 3 decimal places (within a ~1.1km / 0.6mi radius). You acknowledge that location metrics displayed in the app are approximate. HangSpot does not guarantee the pinpoint accuracy of any user's real-world location and is not liable for any discrepancies.
5. Account Deletion and Data Purge
You can terminate your account at any time by selecting "Delete Account" in the "Me" settings tab inside the mobile application. Selecting this option triggers our secure deleteUserAccount protocol, which permanently purges all profile data, matches, photo assets, location indexes, and private records from our databases and cloud storage buckets immediately.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HangSpot and its creators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of your real-world interactions or meetups with other individuals met through the platform.
7. Modifications to the Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document or via in-app notifications. Continued use of the Service after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
